I was wondering of getting a new laptop, and I have come across Google's Chromebooks.

They are very cheap and very tempting to buy instead of a normal laptop.

Have you had any experience with Chromebooks?

Shall I take the step and buy one?

I am a computer technician and can tell you for me Chromebooks are nothing more than a pain. Especially when someone wants to hook up an old printer to them since they will need to first connect that printer to a windows pc or mac. Chromebooks print using cloud print so you can only use ePrinters, cloud printers, and printers attached to your other computers and then shared over your cloud. That is just when it comes to usability it gets worse when an internal part actually fails or the OS needs to be reloaded. I think they are a fad like netbooks were but Google will use it as a stepping stone to something better to follow.
