An organized group or movement that advocates hate, physical or verbal aggression towards members of a race, religion, gender or other designated sector of society. In 1995, there was only one hate website which existed on the net. Now, there are over 10,000 websites, social networking groups, blogs, portals and hate games according to a report by the Wiesenthal Center’s Digital Hate and Terrorism Project that promote racial violence, anti-Semitism, homophobia, hate music and terrorism. There is no doubt that hate sites are infiltrating the internet in a serious way. Now the debate is on whether censorship can help stop the spreading of hateful ideologies. Till now there is no one hundred percent effective ways for stopping online bigotry. Though internet enables to spread extremists’ views, only it has the capability to bring people together and is the ultimate force to diminish hate groups significantly. Regards, Karim.
