Daffodil Software, a provider of database products and synchronization solutions, yesterday announced the release of the PHP extension module for its Java database - Daffodil DB.
The PHP extension for Daffodil DB provides an effective means for connecting to Daffodil DB server from or within PHP, a server-side, HTML-embedded scripting language. With this extension, any application (that requires a database) built in PHP can make use of Daffodil DB.
According to the company, with this module, Daffodil DB can now be used as a back-end for web-based applications, including websites. The first version of PHP extension has been tested on Linux and Windows, and is compatible with PHP 4.3.7 or above.
"We have been witnessing growing interest from PHP developers in regards to incorporating a Java database into their web infrastructure," said Parveen Agarwal, Technical Manager, Daffodil. "The development of the PHP interface should spur the development of open source software One$DB and PHP."
