The news archive search is one of several new Google services
Web giant Google is further expanding its online empire with the launch of the Google News Archive Search.
The web-based tool allows users to explore existing digitised newspaper articles and more recent online content, spanning the last 200 years.

People using the search are shown results from both free and subscription-based news outlets.

Partners in the project include the websites of US newspaper the New York Times and the Guardian from the UK.

I think this is a really good idea, especially having reproductions of offline news sources available for free. Most online news sources (such as bbc news) don't go back much further than 1998
  3. it will certinly help investigators as it will allow us to search for stories on people's backgrounds, i.e. confirming entires on their CVs.

It's also just another good way of getting relevant information.
  4. pretty nice idea, will help everyone in the long run, keep up the growth of your soon to be monopoly google lol :)
