    Hi chaps.

What I want to do is to get a paid hosting service, and a domain name.

I've been messing around now for some while with those banner ad supported free hosting services, and now I want to create my first 'proper' website.

I need (I think, hopefully someone can tell me if I'm right or not) to register a domain name and to get a hosting service for my pages, because I want people to be able to type mydomainname.com into their browser, and have this bring up my pages.

Assuming I'm right (lol) how do you go aout registering domain names? And what should I be looking for in a web hosting service? Am I right in thinking that I could possibly even register several domain names, and then have them point to different directories on the server?

Any help, pointers or pokes in the eye gratefully recieved.

Welcome to UK webmaster world somedude, go to www.velnetweb.co.uk and you will be able to search for available domain name, register and host it.

    Good luck

Well to register your domains names there are some big registars around like nsi.com , register.com alltough they are not that cheap , however you can buy a domain name at most web hosting companyes around for prices around 7-10$/yr for most TLD's.

If you want to host multiple sites on the same hosting account this can be done only if your host allows you to. So yes this is possible but you should check that the host supports this and make sure there are not hidden fees to this, some charge you extra if you want to host more then one domain.
