Is having thousands of links in a web directory a benefit for a directory owner and why?
Gkd, maybe i am tired a bit but not really understand what you are asking?
For example: You have a web directory and you have 5,000 submissions which you have approved and listed.
Is having 5,000 listings in a directory a benefit? Will a directory with 5,000 links listed benefit more compared to a directory that has 100 links listed?
Hope this is clear
Yes, silly me. I think the most valuable position you may get with a niche directory is the hub position. OWG talked about it previously. This is a stressed status among the websites and rank well at the search engines. I think the fewer link may help to gain this status, though i have never had any hub site. And i can't tell you too much about the general directories since i don't have any
I would say the more links the better but still make sure u have alot of sites linking back to you. Especially if u plan to sell the site in the future it looks better if it is full than empty.
Nice discussion. Thanks gkd_uk and bagi.

More content means more value.
Thanks Adnan, this is the sort of answer I was looking for. Why would a directory get more value if it has more links?
Separate names with a comma.
