How many times have you found a site on the Internet and not paid attention to it thinking it does not meet your needs only to realize later that your impression was wrong. Well, we have had many such experiences. Just like a person is identified by his/her first impression so is a website. It is imperative that the Main Page of the website is both informative as well as attractive.

The Main Page of any website should ideally cater to the visitors needs. Before designing the Main Page, you should essentially identify the goals of the website, the target audience for whom the web site is being created and the details regarding product or service or information being offered through the site. The most important factor while designing your Main Page to make it search engine friendly is to use optimum amount of text and images. Care should be taken to have few images; text should be properly formatted and highlighted so as to make it both attractive and easy to load.

Too much text is also a problem and if it is not properly formatted then it makes a boring reading and will not attract many visitors who will click the return button back to searches. So also main pages with lot of images take a lot of time to load and people get irritated when they have to wait for long. We all have gone through this and have clicked the stop button totally annoyed at the time taken for the page to actually open. This refutes the entire purpose of having a web site. Proper placement of images and text is equally important in determining the SEO value of a Main page.
