After reading many .htaccess tutorials, I conclude that some very simple and useful aspects were either totally ignored or explained in way more words than necessary. I will post every tip as a separate post, as I write it.

    1. How to create a filename called .htaccess in Windows?
Many people use Windows for testing purposes and Linux for deployment. One issue Windows users facing is the creation of .htaccess file. The full name of the .htaccess file is .htaccess. It means that the filename is empty and the file extension is htaccess. Because the filename is empty, the procedure of creating the file .htaccess is a little tricky:
    • start Notepad
    • save the file as “.htaccessâ€, including the quotes
Windows will create the file .htaccess, without the quotes. After creating, the editing is the same as for every other text file.
