Well, I've committed myself to actually doing some SEO work on Lifesupporters for the first time since it was created and was wondering, if your just starting at ground level where is the best place to start?

I'll be adding "alt" text to my important images, re-writing my site description, changing some of the <meta> and using keywords more effectively in my articles. Any other ideas on what I need to do in the beginning?
  2. Read. A lot. :) Remeber that search engines look for and rank individual pages. Hmm lots of things. I have to go and do some things but I'll try and come back to this later. You'll be fine once you get going because you're very interested in your user's experience on your site. You will discover that the two conceps are very closely related and very compatible

Page titles and internal navigation anchor text and structure.
  4. Keyword themes and keyword phrases to descrive each page and each section. That will help your anchor texts and structure and page content and visitor navigation. It's all connected like a giant ball of spaghetti
