My article writter suggested that members of this forum may find and article on "Site Indexation" useful. I honestly do not have a clue what he mean or what the term site indexation means, anyway, here is the article, I hope someone finds it useful:

    Site Indexation Tool
Websites are effective methods of popularizing products and services offered by various companies. Mere creation of attractive and informative websites is not enough and one has to promote the website to attract appropriate and adequate traffic towards the site. One of the possible ways to promote a website is to enlist the web page with a search engine. Just as a phone number should be listed in the local telephone directory, so also, pages of a website has to be indexed with a search engine to attract the right amount of visitors and enhance one’s business.

Promoting a site with a search engine is an ongoing process and the first step is indexation. Indexation of a website means that the website is visited by various search engines, which then analyze the contents of your site and then list it in their databases under the appropriate category. Inclusion of your website in a search engine’s database is very important for attracting the correct visitors both in terms of quality as well as quantity and this ultimately results in increasing business opportunities. In other words, indexation means that when someone does a search then your website would be considered if it was indexed with the search engine.

Different search engines adopt different methods for site indexation. Having a variety of quality inbound links in your website can work to your advantage in some cases. If you have inbound links which are already indexed with a search engine, the next time site indexing takes place, these search engines automatically visit your site and index it in their database. Google is one such popular search engine that automatically searches sites that have such inbound links already registered in their database. However, there are some search engines that require the submission of your website in order to ensure proper and successful indexation. For this the main page of your website has to be submitted to the search engine which will then look at the other pages through the links present in the main page.

For a new entrant into this field, it is difficult to understand the procedures and methods adopted by various search engines and the difficulty increases when the number of pages in a website is large. Site Indexation Tool is a very useful component that helps index a website with the different search engines. Site Indexation tool helps complete this daunting manual task in a matter of just five minutes leaving you assured that your website is indexed with the leading search engines of today.

Various Site Indexation tools are available in the market today and each has its own advantages. Some of the Site Indexation Tools obtain the PageRank value of each page with the search engine before actually indexing it. This is very crucial when the site is very large in terms of number of pages and also very complex. Site Indexation Tools like Semonitor supports the major search engines like MSN Search, Lycos, AltaVista, AlltheWeb and Google.

It is also not enough if you were to index it only at the time of creation of the website. Site Indexation is an ongoing process and has to be done every two or three months so as to update the search engine database with the recent changes made to your site. Site Indexation Tools help in checking the indexation of your site with the search engine and help make appropriate and necessary changes. Site Indexation Tool becomes extremely convenient when the site in question is very large and is constantly changing. By this we mean that new pages are added to a site and also location of old pages are shifted constantly.

SEOMonitor is a piece of rank checking software. One slight correction to that though. Spiders do NOT follow links from other sites to yours, it works like this. :~

Spider visits a page, spider eats the page code, and sends it home, together with any links found on the page. Spider waits for next URL instruction from home, spider then visits the next url it is given. Sometimes it might be a link to your site, sometimes not. But they do not actually follow links, they index them and ask for another. :)

But the next url the spider visites could be one found from your page but spider needs instruction from home before it follows it?
